Insta officially conducted a study of Generation Z (zoomers), and determined the trends for 2023 among the “youth” (the word youth sounds somehow old-fashioned).
I rethought everything for you and told it in my own words. Trends 2023 among zoomers on Instagram:
1. Recycling, repair and sustainable consumption
World inflation and the economic crisis are making themselves felt and toll on the wallet. According to surveys, more than half of zoomers are ready to make their own “fashionable clothes” (such as coloring sneakers and jackets).
They try to take care of things and, if necessary, they will carry the thing for repair without any problems. In general, this will be a more thrifty generation. The trend is to take care of things.
2. Vote with money
Not all zoomers have grown yet, but many of them already support political initiatives with donations.
In general, for these guys, there is no problem to support a blogger with a donation, to buy not just a product, but an idea, support for something more significant. In 2023, we will see a growing economy of donations, sponsorships and subscriptions.
3. More skincare
According to the study, climate change is prompting teenagers to use skin care products, sunscreen, and so on more often. And in the era of self-expression, when Tiktok and Rils are on top, teenagers are more likely to use makeup to “show” themselves. In short, the growth in the consumption of cosmetics is just ON THE FACE
4. Metaverses
Well, of course, Insta could not ignore this topic. 67% of zoomers surveyed want a better reflection of reality in the metaverses. With different options for bodies, clothes, etc.
My gag: If you move away from Zuckerberg’s propaganda of the metaverse, then the trend towards digital reality is still growing. People (and capital) want to create a second world in the screen of smartphones, in glasses, in computers. To socially and creatively self-actualize there, and also, of course, to earn money. In reality, we run into oil, physics, borders. The digital world does not have these restrictions, therefore, there will definitely be a second economy soon. All these toys with NFTs and blockchain are fat prerequisites for the creation of a new world.
5. Earnings in social networks
Two-thirds of the teens surveyed plan to somehow use social networks to earn money. Many hope to monetize Instagram, and many simply want to receive a side income from creativity from social networks. The world of earnings in social networks has already come and will grow in 2023. Most of the new generation already want to earn money through social networks.
6. Culture through food
With the rise of culinary content, 68% of zoomers surveyed either already study or want to start learning other cultures through cuisine. Try different dishes from different countries.
7. Mixed media trend. Multi-format, to be precise
Zoomers, in general, live in social networks and want to see their idols, artists, authors here. They want to communicate with them in different formats, including listening to podcasts. Here, Insta hints at the podcast function. And the trend itself is that “mixed media will run everything in 2023.” In short, in my interpretation, it is necessary to be in different formats, to broadcast from everywhere.
8. Rave trend (discos)
68% of zoomers surveyed plan to attend a rave. They really love it (hello tiktok and dancing) and they love different cultures in music. For example, K-Pop and Latin American motives.
9. Social media dating trend
In short, here the guys litter Tinder, they say that Insta is much more honest and more convenient for dating. Everything is more tolerant here, no one is swept aside left and right. At the same time, there is a trend towards dating through memes. 39% of those surveyed claim to have used memes for their first private message. There is also a trend that people in correspondence feel less secure than in person. Fear of hacking, screenshots and all that
THAT’S ALL
