Many of those who decided to clean their account from bots and useless followers in their profiles did it wrong or did not know how to do it at all.
In this post, I will share with you the rules for properly cleaning “dead” followers.
✔ Keep a balance: the number of removed “dead” accounts per day should be less or the same than the number of new followers. This will reduce the chance of a possible drop in organic reach. Instagram algorithms know exactly when YOU remove dead accounts and when users unfollow you. Still, it’s best not to piss off the algorithms.
Know that Instagram has learned to determine and control mass following/unfollowing actions, so don” ‘t use any 3rd party apps that promise to remove or block followers massively and quickly.
✔Before removing an account, consider if this is a real person. The fact that he has no profile picture or very few posts may not always mean that he is not an active follower. Check recent stories, your conversation in DMs, etc.
✔ It’s not always worth removing a person if he follows more than 3500 accounts. This is a mass follower, but also he might be interested in your services or products. Again check your conversation in DMs, leave few likes on his recent posts and check active stories.
Notify such people – send DM, make a post-warning, post a few announcements in Stories. This is how you show your followers how much you appreciate their attention. Only if the person hasn’t responded to your alerts, then you can remove them.
And remember, the number of followers and likes is not the most important thing, the most important thing is whether you achieve your goal with this number of followers and likes.
For example, goals might be:
▪increase in sales
▪increasing popularity and awareness
▪testing a new product
Lovelies, in fact, cleaning your account is a very responsible and tedious task. It’s better not to trust this activity to any 3rd party apps or services, but remove followers manually, following my advice.
